Welcome to the SCA, m'lady!

Actually we do. I guess you and the current Chatelaine
just didn't make connections this past event. Sometimes
it is hard to tell who the newcomers are, especially if
they are in nice garb (clothing) that they've been loaned.
Since you've already picked a name, I assume you are
somewhat already familar with the SCA. However, you might
find some of the files in the NEWCOMERS section of my
Florilegium files to be useful such as:
4-newcomers-msg (28K) 2/20/01 Comments directed at SCA newcomers.
courtesy-msg (32K) 1/19/96 Courtesy guidelines in the SCA and
period.
Hand-kissing and bowing.
Feast-Basket-art (7K) 10/18/00 "The Well-Tempered Feast Basket: a
guide for
newcomers" by Lady Jehanne de
Huguenin.
Getting-an-AoA-art (9K) 6/22/98 "How to Get an AoA" by Gunnora
Hallakarva.
How-to-Behave-art (12K) 6/10/01 "How to Behave in these Current
Middle Ages"
by Lady Meliora Leuedai de
Ardescote.
intro-books-msg (36K) 6/ 8/99 Recommended books on the Middle Ages
and
Renaissance.
SCA-courts-nc-msg (21K) 5/30/01 Comments and about SCA Courts for
newcomers.
SCA-intro-art (20K) 2/21/00 "Life in the Current Middle Ages",
An Introduction to the SCA.
My personal recommendation is to wait a few months to decide if you
want to stay in the SCA before paying dues to the national organisation.
I do, however, recommend getting a subscription to the local newsletter,
the "It Cometh" as that will tell you when meetings are and what local
craft guilds we have and when they will be meeting.
For more on why paying dues and becoming a regular member is a good
idea, take a look at this file:
Y-Join-th-SCA-art (10K) 2/ 5/02 "Why You Should Join SCA, Inc.?"
by Meg Baron.
(However, this file is new and I'm not sure if it is on the website,
yet.
If it isn't, I should have it there in the next week or so).
After you looked at the files in this section, there are over 1400 other
files on a wide variety of SCA and period subjects. Perhaps some of
those might also be of interest.
The Florilegium is on the web at: http://www.florilegium.org

This is a wonderful way to get involved, as are the various guild
meetings.
