I thought y'all would get a kick out of this. This was
posted after a long discussion on whether Shiner can
be found here. Someone needs to send this to the
Spaetzel Brewery and get this fine man a lifetime
supply of Shiner!

Now why on Earth would I want to do a 12-step program
to get off the nectar of the gods themselves?
Considering that the Spaetzel Brewery (hallowed be thy
vats) is a short distance from San Antonio, it is
believed that the Battle of the Alamo was fought for
the brewery. But religious and political pundits of
the time felt that going to war with Mexico over a
brewery (these were Yankees talking here and obviously
had never been deemed worthy of partaking of the true
Water of Texan Might) so they changed the legend to
the defense of a mission.
Nay, poor philistine, to be removed from the glory of
Shiners to lose sight of Texas heaven. The tumbleweeds
lose the art of rolling, the cacti dim in their green
beauty, and the song of cattle begins to sound like
simple mooing without the glamour created by that
wholesome nectar.
No more Shiner? Why, drain the very blood from my
veins! Soon I'll be wearing shirt with the sleeved
rolled halfway up my forearms and wear white socks and
no belt with my jeans. I'll find beauty in te
moonrocks surrounding Phoenix and think theGrand
Canyon is more than A Really Big Hole. I'll no longer
be a breathing Texan and start becomming a <gasp
aargh! Arizonan!
Yers,
Gunthar
(I need a beer....)
