Okay... so how do I get rid of the sparkly new evilware program now
that I've read the thread of doom and woe? The program provides no
convenient "uninstall and banish to the pit" button and I'm worried
that the black helicopters are going to land on my lawn before dawn.
I don't have to burn my computer on the lawn with gasoline, do I?

...
one of my favorite spyware removal tools is a product called "Pest
Patrol" (also one of the most highly rated):

http://www.sunbelt-software.com/product.cfm?id=911

it's shareware but the free trail should take care of the immediate
problem for you .... thought it's useful enough to pay for ($20 i
think). works well on the 98/98se/2000/xp systems i maintain at home
& work.

also there are any number of other shareware & freeware products out
there (type in "spyware" as a search argument in your browsers search
window)
