My lady,

a "filk" is a song that has had the words changed. For
example, let's say I liked the tune of "YMCA" by the
Village People. Now, obviously the words to the song
aren't period (at least, I don't think Elizabethans
had a YMCA. *G*). So, I would change the words around
to make them a bit more period. Here is how it would
look:

It's fun to stay at the YMCA
It's fun to stay at the YMCA-A
They've got everything
For young men to enjoy
You can hang out with all the boys

Not very period, no? Now, here's a "filked" version:

It's fun to play in the SCA
It's fun to play in the S-S-CA-A
They've got everything
