Your comments above concern me, as they appear to be in conflict with each other. You state that you wish to use the images for documentation, and yet you also remark that you do not care about the time period. It would be easier to point you in a solid direction if you could give us idea of what your project is. Otherwise it is possible to get a mix of styles and end up with a non-Period amalgam that may look good but not be document able.

I do not recommend the Internet as a primary resource for documentation. Please visit your local university or college library, and look for books on Illumination.
