* ... Yes, m'Lady, you are correct; As of Jan 1, 3003; a $3 NMS is
now official for all events at which entrance fees are collected.
Also as of Jan 1, the $35 membership fee no longer includes a
subscription to T.I. The complete announcement/explanation can be
found here: http://www.sca.org/BOD/announcements/memberannounce.html
and here:

...
which is essentially also a "stealth increase" in the basic
membership fees .. by "unbundling" TI and leaving the basic
membership rate unchanged, *everyone* was just hit by a membership
fee increase, and most don't realize it yet ... cleaver use of terms
to make a unpopular decision and divert attention away from the
actions.

a more honest and useful approach would have been unbundling TI (to
live or die on it's own) and drop the basic membership fee
accordingly. this action and the lower rate would have most likely
*increased* memberships as many of the fence-sitters came over,
resulting in more income ... as it is, i predict this action will
ultimately lead a decrease in memerships at a critical time which in
turn will start a spiral of fee and membership fee increses, which
will decrease membership, etc ...

it's already at (or past that "sweet spot") that makes it palatable
for the largest numbers. raising rates at this time, and in this
manner, is a classic shooting oneself in the foot action.
