Someone asked about having a royal secretary to handle paperwork type stuff.
Most Crowns find someone to help them organize things.  I wouldn't think a
warranted, official office is a good idea in this case.  That person has to
be someone the Crown trusts implicitly.  Most of the time the royal
secretary, steward, whatever-you-want-to-call-it, is a close and trusted
friend, someone the Crown trusts to represent them to the populace.

In our case, we appointed a steward to help us.  That person fielded phone
calls (things like questions about our preferences or itinerary), organized
our travel, and handled a million miscellaneous little things we didn't have
time for.  We handled award recs ourselves, as do most of the Crowns I know.


We did keep extensive files on ongoing situations.  We passed these files
along to our heirs so they could know why we made the decisions we did.
Hopefully it added some continuity to things around the kingdom.

About award recs, we passed on some to our heirs, but not all of them by a
long shot (there were literally hundreds).  We sent the ones we didn't have
time to act on, or the ones for events taking place in our successor's reign.


The thing is, most award recs are time sensitive - intended for a specific
upcoming event that the person will be at.  Subsequent Crowns have no way of
knowing (short of guessing) which events a person might attend next.  Trying
to track someone down could go on for years.

I recommend resubmitting your recommendation to the next Crown if it doesn't
get given.  If lots of work went into the rec you can even use the same basic
information again.  It really is easier for a single person to remember to
resubmit one rec than it is for a new Crown to handle stacks of backlogged
paperwork.  I could be wrong, but I don't think most Crowns want to inherit
stacks of unfinished business.  They get more than enough of their own.
