        Where I agree with a lot that Alden said, especially the part about
dysentery, I think that the country was not torn apart at the end of the
Civil War because the losing side was so distressed emotionally, morally, and
financially, that they did anything for survival, including playing nice with
the victors. But that is not the period we play.
