Yes, It is perfectly acceptable to fight in a crown with out the intent to
win.  You can fight to assure a particular level of fighting without
intending to win the tourney.  This should not be confused with "throwing a
fight".  In my opinion, throwing a fight is wrong and unchivalrous, bring
no honor to any one.  But you could go out and fight in crown, say with
only polearm and not your best style of sword and shield.  You can give it
your all and probably be assured you will not win.  You still should be
aware that things can happen and you might find yourself in the position of
winning.  So when you take the sword oath you should mean it.
