Please be very careful in using any type of 'thatch' in the central and south Texas area - by definition, thatch is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE, and could be a 'flash' fire.  Thatch originated in a much cooler and very much wetter environment.  This material when damp would smolder, but not burn readily; in our environment, with high heat, minimal humidity and gusty winds, it would be VERY dangerous!

especially to the tents *downwind* of your flaming roof .... or anything dry onsite that could catch and start a grass/wildfire.
