Thatch substitutes, formerly [Ansteorra] Carport Tents on sale- Big Lots

Hunters and the armed services use "ghillie suits." These are shredded
strips of material which mimic thatch and brush. Could a ghillie suit be
modified by sewing acrylic, which is fast drying, strips onto tarps to
camoflage existing tents (which could still protect from rain, though the
ghillie-thatch "rainfly" might get wet)?
