[Ansteorra] Gulf War happenings

Yes, it rained...

But if you missed it, you missed a fabulous event.

Some of my favorite moments:
- Anton taking the Trimarian "queen" in the live chess
match between HRM Miguel and HRM Yoan of Trimaris. The
queens, as the most powerful pieces, were each played
by two fighters. The Trimarian queen had already
defeated two of our pieces when His Majesty Miguel
moved Anton to challenge her. He swiftly defeated
*both* of his opponents, who attacked him
simultaneously and aggressively - it was incredible to
watch.
- Lord Alessandro Andretti winning the Ansteorran
sponsored rapier Rose Tourney. The list was full of
skilled rapier fighters from throughout the Knowne
World, including many dons, provosts, and other
fighters recognized by their kingdoms for their
prowess with a rapier. Yet *Cadet* Alessandro won the
day, with skill, graciousness, and good humor. As an
Ansteorran and a Rose, I couldn't have been more
proud.
- Seeing the cadet banners unfurled during great
court. The crowned heads of the Knowne World were
arrayed before the fort in great splendor. All wore
their best finery and spoke noble words before the
populace. But no display was more impressive than when
their Majesties Ansteorra rose to address the
populace, and our gorgeous cadet banners unfurled from
each of the highest towers of the fort in perfect
unison. It was a splendid sight, met with much
cheering. When Their Majesties were finished with
their court business, the banners snapped away, again
in perfect unison.
- Seeing Aaron Stuart announced to become our newest
White Scarf. Aaron, a beloved friend and my lord's
former cadet, will be elevated at Loch Baronial.
Congratulations, Aaron - it's well-deserved!

There were many more things that made this war
wonderful for me - the christening of our splendid new
gate, that tasty lemon stuff at the Amazon party, the
company of close friends from home and new friends
from afar, the opportunity to sponsor a trio of
wonderful fighters in the Rose tournies (thank you
Tristan, Modius, and Eric!), and the magnificent words
and deeds of my Crown, who over and over again made me
proud to be an Ansteorran. I know there were a zillion
other things that happened that deserve to be
mentioned here, and I hope everyone who went will take
a moment to share the events of the war that inspired
and moved them.

Oh, by the way - we won! There's no way I can recount
all the points from my faulty memory (and of course,
it was a "tie" anyway, in honor of our deep friendship
with Trimaris), but I certainly remember that the
overwhelming majority of the points belonged to
Ansteorra. :)

If you were grateful to be home and dry while we were
all at the war, soaking wet, you have no idea what you
were missing!

Regards,
Sara
