[Ansteorra] A question for Ansteorran artisans

(1) Do you think Ansteorra should have a titled Kingdom Artisan?
Why or why not?

-- Yes, I think we should have a Kingdom Artisan! We have Kingdom competitions for nearly every activity in the SCA.

(2) If a titled Kingdom Artisan were to be selected, how should
this person be chosen?  Competition? What kind of competition? How
judged? Royal appointment? Other? etc.

--- I like the idea of a competition.  Why not make the Kingdom Artisan the person who wins Kingdom A&S? This would be a perfect (and logical) event as most people bring their best piece they have worked on for the year. Besides this is something already on the calendar and we have a crowded schedule already.

(3) What, if any, should be the duties and responsibilities of a
titled Kingdom Artisan, if such were to be selected?

-- What are the rights and duties of other titled champions? Maybe this person could help judge the following Kingdom artisan? How about making something(s) for Their Majesties to either keep or give away?? I've been told that one of the most expensive things about ruling is buying largess out of your own pocket.  What about promoting their art? Maybe writing a series of articles on their art in the Black Star? I wouldn't want to require a titled artisan as that might hurt the competition, especially right now where the economy is bad and people are having to make tough choices about events they go to.
