Yes, a hospitaler's job is often a thankless one. Your local hospitaler takes care of the newcomers, often holding their hands for quite awhile until they find a way to fit into the group. Your local hospitaler goes out of their way to approach "new people" who may show up at your practices or meetings--something that ALL of us should be doing. Your local hospitaler tries real hard to get participants at all the demos that are requested by schools, Boy Scouts and other youth groups who are thrilled when we do a demo! If you have never participated in a demo with young children I highly recommend it. The thrill and wonder you see in their eyes is one you will cherish for a long time! Your local hospitaler seeks out ways to promote your group at local festivals, parades and yes openings of movies, again begging the group to participate as these are the best means of getting publicity for the SCA and possibly gaining new members. With out new members how can we grow. Remember we
were all newcomers at one time!

Make your hospitaler feel good, say thanks! And when they are bugging you once again to participate in yet another demo--you might say yes for a change!
