Such demos, while not my cup of tea, have long been done by people in the
SCA. Yes, they good for the store, but they also provide groups with
recruiting opportunities. I don't think that anyone is being exploited, and
I suggest that you take a less accusatory stance.

sounds to me like you enjoy being exploited for anothers profits,to me this
