Greetings to the populace of Ansteorra,

Then the Shire of Tempio would like to invite you to attend their War Camp
Practice, the testing of a new site...
On October 15-17, 2004
There will be a place for fighting, heavy and light.
There will be space set aside for A&S gathering to share or demonstrate
your talents
The Dove and Gauntlet Tavern will be available for your dining enjoyment
for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a small fee.
Merchants are welcome...
And best of all....NO GATE FEE, although site registration and wavier
requirements will still be in place...
All this will be in the beautiful new setting of Camp Arrowhead with plenty
of lovely scenery, lots of camping space, and 75 acres of trails and
wonders to explore.
Details below.....
Site will be open friday evening and close early afternoon on Sunday.
Site registration "Gate" will be at the "turn of the road". Sign up and
wavier requirements will be required of all participants although there is
NO SITE FEE. Parking after registering at gate will be in the field just
inside the fence.
Site is primitive but has potable water and portable privies. There is
lots of camping space.
Heavy and Light fighting has been scheduled in two blocks for Saturday the
16th. Armor inspection will be at any time in those two blocks.
Times are: 9 am to 12 noon & 2 pm to 5 pm
All other activities are at the leisure of whomever wants to gather to
share and talk.
The Tavern will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday with
breakfast on Sunday. Prices are $2.00 for breakfast which will consist of
pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch and dinner will be also $2.00
each and will consist of a choice of stew, soup, bread and sausages. A
more definite menu will be available on site.
Directions to site, 2 ways:
1. Coming from the north or south on IH-35, to Belton, TX, take the 6th
street exit and proceed west on 6th street until intersecting with Hwy
317. Turn (north) right, and proceed a couple of miles to the intersection
of Sparta Rd and 317. Turn (west) left onto Sparta Rd and continue on
Sparta Rd for approximately 7 miles, pass over a cattleguard and the road
will turn into North Nolanville Rd. Look for Camp Arrowhead sign on your
left. Turn left at the sign, and continue straight to the gate. THERE ARE
NO SECURITY CHECKPOINTS TO GO THROUGH, the site is outside of the security
perimeter of Fort Hood. If you reach BLORA you've gone too far.
OR...
From I-35 take 6th St. exit. Proceed west to 317, turn north (right) on
317, proceed 2 miles to FM 439. Turn west (left) on 439. Proceed to
intersection of 439 and Sparta Rd, turn right (west). Follow above
directions from there.
The fine print:
Minors under the age of 18 may attend with an adult and a signed and
notarized copy of the minor event waiver form. The site is wet in period
containers. Pets are allowed with current rabies papers and leash. No
horse will be allowed. Ground fires will be permitted if there is no burn
ban in effect.
