[Ansteorra] Minivans pulling trailers?

I osed this question to an SCA Mechanic friend of mine (some of may know of Arthur of the Twisted Wrench). This is his reply:
 
 
 
> DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A M I N I VAN !!!!!!!!! You will pull the guts out of it in no time . plus with an automatic tranny you have to take it out of overdrive to tow a trailer and that kills the gas mileage !!! I suggest a 4 door pu. with a standard overdrive trans. that way you'll get good gas mileage and it will do the 
job of towing with some power . You don't need a big old dully or 3/4 ton , just a 1/2 ton with a V6 or small
 V8 will do . I've got a 98 Chevy 1/2 ton with a v6 and 5 spd. standard and 2 weeks ago I trailed my Caravan
 loaded with about 700lbs. of stuff in it from Little Rock, Ar. to Ada, Ok. and run 70 , got 14 miles to a gal. , I was heavy , it pulled down a some on the bigger hills but it still pulled it pretty good .
