Rather than donations of food and such, it is always better to donate money
to the Red Cross. Each disaster area requires different amounts of food,
water, blankets and other items and it allows the Red Cross a chance to
funnel the proper resources into an area. Call and ask the Red Cross in
your area to see what exactly they will need to assist the people in the
disaster areas. They generally will be able to tell you.

and they can usually always use local blood donations to replenish the local
stocks that are diverted into disaster areas ...
