Benjamin Bagby will be doing a live performance of Beowulf in
Houston on Fri., Feb. 11 (see below for details).

7:00 p.m. Pre-concert Talk: "Beowulf: The Hero and the Monster,"
Dr. Jane Chance, Professor of English, Rice University

>From the first word, "Hwæt" (Lo!) until the death of the monster
Grendel, Mr. Bagby, noted director of the medieval ensamble,
Sequentia, will hold you spellbound with his dramatic retelling of
the epic poem, accompanying himself with a six-string lyre in the
manner of the medieval bard.  Performed in Old English with
subtitles.

and $10 for students (under 25 with student ID).  Free admission
