The boxing ring also gives us the expression "throwing
in the towel."  A coach could throw a towel into the
ring to stop the fight and resign the fight.  

It was fun seeing the crazy stuff, but the real
education was the real reasons behind things.  Isn't
researching orgins of things like this just a hoot?  I
certainly think so.
