which seques into another issue ... loss of the past "experience" over time,
something the historians (scadian and othewise lament). lot's of projects
get started to address the issue, few survive over time .. myself, i'm a
hard core archivist who's been saving personally intetesting threads since
the BBS years - one reason this current topic caught my eye

one plus of the online world ... it's mostly still out there somewhere

I, too, have noticed the same cycling of issues and topics and I have not
been around for 31+ years. However, as each person enters our
society/community at different stages and matures at different times, each
comes to the place of decision for ideas like "troll vs. gate"; "pay-to-play
vs. volunteerism-counts"; "documentation-good or evil", "Are tournaments
better than melees", and other issues of concern on individual timetables.
And so it gets discussed....over and over....as each comes to their own
conclusions about such issues. Trivial??? Mostly true. Timely???? Probably
not. Still a hot topic with some???? Always and forever. Like I said,
learning to be selectively deaf or being able to instantaneously convert in
one's mind the modern/cutesy/fun word into one which is less grating to
yourself are virtues I'd like to see more of our group cultivate.
