The ADA pertains to public buildings, places engaged in certain business practices, and employers (a little understated, but you get the point). It does not pertain to private residences or property. It also does not pertain to building built, or modified, prior to a certain date (sorry, I don't have the statute in front of me so don't know what that date is).

But what we as an organization need to keep in mind always is what is most beneficial to our members. And in my mind that means trying to accommodate any and all who MIGHT come to our Events. As an Event Steward I believe it is incumbent upon us to make every effort to ensure our sites are accessible and usable by our populace and guests. That could mean something as simple as providing handicap port-o-pots to selecting a site that is ADA compliant instead of one that is not. So many of our Events are outdoors, which imposes its own set of difficulties for certain disabilities, and being sensitive to those is important (including overlooking certain modern convienences). This includes parking. Most halls and indoor sites we use will have restricted parking; but what about outdoor sites?

I think we must be guided by the same honor and courtesy we speak so highly of on the fighting field in all our dealings, so that everyone can enjoy this wonderful game we play and have great experiences.
