Ok, just because someone is in a wheelchair or otherwise in some way
physically hanidcapped does not make them less fortunate or suffering.

Lord Richard is in no way less forturnate nor suffering due to his
disabililty. He is height challenged and ask any fighter who has meet him
on the field and had the pleasure of being hit by him if he is in any way
less forturnate. More likely than not it is his opponent who is suffering
when they leave the field.

But that is not the issue here, just needed to clear that up.

* .... All of my thanks...you have stated so well the point I believe we
have been trying to get across.
...
more than welcome ...

never ceases to amze me how much increasing energy people put into
maintaining sttaus que in te name of "it's always been down this way", when
the solutions are usually simple, inexpensive, and sitting right in front of
you .. only takes learning how to look at things with new eye's to find new
solutions to old problems.

defending "how it's always been done" by finding what are essentially legal
loopholes and cop-outs to not make rational changes seems very much at odds
with the spirit of the organization. so what if ADA does not specifically
apply to the SCA .. the ADA guidelines are worthy to attempt to achieve
where possible to help those less fotunate than you. it's just the right
thing to do.

i see no reason that a minority of the membership should be asked to
continue to suffer (past what they already suffer by fate) for the
conveninece of the majority. especially when there are easy and inexpensive
solutions to reasonably accommodate their needs. on this issue, it's
definitely time for SCA to practice what they preach - honor, consideration,
etc

on personal level, decided a long while back that as i remodel my house,
it's going to be as ADA compliant as i can reasonably make it .. if not for
me, for my parents / friends or for those that follow who might need such
options to make their life a bit easier. not becuae it's mandated, but
because it's a rational thing to do (and won't cost me anything extra) ..
plus the design issues mesh nicely with the master design i'm going for
(oriental / craftsman / passive green).

never know, there may be a motorcycle wreck in my wyrd that will leave me in
a chair someday ....
