It depends. I think a lot of it depends on how long the "people in charge" are publicly in control.

The Byzantines used to reckon their time based on the reign of one Emperor or Empress. Here, people tend to mark their time based on who was on the Ansteorran Throne and/or their Baronial thrones.

For most, it's 3-5 years is a generation. That's the average length of a bachelor's degree in college, and the average length of time a hot fighter has after they get a clue, and before their knees or shoulders go out. It's also the average length of time the baronial thrones are occupied by the same person or couple. There are also generations or "waves" of Peers who all seem to be elevated at about the same time. That would qualify as a generation, I suppose.

Of course, there are the abberations to this theory.....Like our new Crown Prince and Princess. (9 years between reigns and no surgeries!)

Personally, I started during the Principality of Ansteorra, when Randall and Constance were Tanist and Tanista and Sean and Katerina sat the Ansteorran Thrones under the flag of Atenveldt. That was.....27 years ago, which would make it 5-9 generations of Ansteorrans.

(feeling kinda old right now)
