When I first started playing some 17 years ago, an SCA generation 
was 10 years, then I saw it begin to shrink to 6-7 years... \
of late, I'd say 3-5 years.  

What really bothers me is those that say in for some years, to earn 
all the award cookies they can, when those goals are met - they wander 
off to other organizations, perhaps to begin the cookie hunt again. 
Sadly, it leaves us without their experience or skills to pass to the 
next generations.
