I agree. Some jobs probably reqire time in the SCA just to be able to operate in the organization, such as Seneschal and
hospitaler, but any one that has outside experience with money handling and enthusiasm for the job can probably be a local
treasurer. Similar for chronicler and even the herald can be trained on the the job. Water bearer coordinator can probably be
done after attending only a few events to see it in action or with sufficient outside experience. Not ready to run a feast? How
about making all the butters and getting them served? Etc. With assistance from someone with SCA experience people with
skills can be allowed to lead and run jobs they only have outside experience or enthusiasm for. Granted, if they are an untried
quantity, have a back up and mentor for them. It takes the stress off of both the new person and the group that is trusting them
that the job will get done.

New people need to be involved in activities as soon as they are interested in them.

Just because you've only been in for less than 2 years doesn't mean you don't have the skills needed. I've seen countless individuals who were phenominal officers who jumped in with enthusiasm, even though it was only their first, second, or third event/meeting. It also depends on how you play - one event in a year is very different from an event every weeknd for a year. Sometimes we need those newer individuals to share some of their ideas, give us new enthusiasm, and bring a fresh look at the officer core. Sometimes they're the only ones to do a job for a small group to stay alive. It just doesn't seem fair to think of people needing to meet a minimum time served in order to be helpful, productive officers/ in charge of things at events. I like to give people a chance and have often been pleasantly
