[Ansteorra] The Dreaded "P" word

Oh yes, I remember that ongoing war of words, all
too well.
I attended my first event, Beltane about 3 months
before that boiled up, and it left a "bad taste in my
mouth" for some time, on the subject, without my ever
getting deeply involved, because, as a "newbie", I did
not feel my opinion would help due to my newness and
lack of grasp on the issue.
I've been around awhile, this time, and am in a much
different place, mentally, as well as having much more
experience to base an opinion on.

  So, here goes.
Mainly, I concur with the point of view that sees
any movement to creat a Principality for "those"
Ansteorrans, to be absolutely the wrong motive. Let
me give you a little exersize that you can apply
yourself any time you want.
Suppose, sitting here in the northernmost settlement
of Ansteorra, I read a message from someone in the
Southern Region, saying "Make a principality out of
the northern region." How do you expect me to react?
Someone just told me to get out of "their" kingdom!
Of course I am going to come back with counter
arguments! Such as, It's my kingdom TOO! also, I
would point out that I am the High Admiral of "Your
Kingdom's Royal Navy", and so on, because, I am being
told I don't belong here. That, at any rate is how it
will be taken, so, before you tell someone else to
leave, flip t around so that YOU are the one being
told to go. NOW how good does the idea sound?
  Not so hot, eh?
To be a valid idea, such a movement needs to arise
from within the region being suggested as a
principality.
Since that is not the case here and now, I suggest
we shelve the idea, until and unless it DOES begin in
the appropriate manner.

None of the above was intended to insult, offend or
challenge anyone. It is mearly my opinion on a VERY
touchy subject.

In Service, I am, and remain,

Ld High Adm Robert Haddock: Commander in Chief, Ansteorran Royal Navy(By Wind & Wave, This We Shall Defend)
  Cheiftain, Clan Haddock(Clann Abair Cach); Personal bodyguard, Triumvirs of House Lightning Mist  ;
Shieldbrother to Lord Gunnar of Gunnarsstead; Nightwolf

Ansteorra expects that we do our duty. You cannot do more, you should never want to do less.
To do your duty is not to do all that is expected of you, nor is it to do your best. To do your duty is to do everything you can find that needs done, and do it exactly right. Then find more that can be done, and do it, also.
