You missed my point...I have been to the funerals of young teenagers...ones that I cared about as they had been my students. I do not just flap my lip here, but talk from experience.
Yes, the principal took stupid to new extremes, but I can see where his logic started.
And as far as your example goes...Heavy fighters could not stop from hitting white diamond archers...so we canceled the white diamond fighters instead of finding an intelligent solution. I even heard a king say it was a good thing because it only takes an hour to learn to hit a 4 inch target 60 feet away and takes a long time to learn to swing a sword...so it just was not fair to the heavy fighters.
Back to kids though...the world of teen is a strange world. Yes, the extremes do happen, and a lot more often than what most people think. Columbine is just one incident.

Only if you're afraid of confrontation. Consider the following
scenario: Joe Fighter is being a rhino and not calling his blows. Do
we solve the problem by...
1. Pulling that fighter from the field, giving him a good talking-to
and possibly pulling his authorization card?
2. Cancelling the entire tournament?
Both options would stop the problem, but only one would reduce others' freedom.
