Maybe some things should be reiterated for the record:
1) I have never voiced any disapproval for the move to make Mooneschadowe a
province. I think it is a particularly kick-a** idea whose time is long
overdue. There are only a few provinces out there in the world, and that structure
appears to work very well with the groups in question. I have stated as much
on this mailing list.....in fact, my exact words were "Mazel Tov" to
Mooneschadowe.
2) I have never suggested that the move to make Mooneschadowe a province was
done in an underhanded or sneaky manner. I know fully well the lengthy
process that you guys underwent to achieve that elevation, and I know that it was
done 100% out in the open. I have never suggested, either, that the concerns
that Master Alden has recently addressed have not or could not be addressed.
He has excellent questions that have excellent answers, questions without the
answers to which the elevation would have been impossible. With a little focus
on the issue itself, and with a little respect for people who ask to be
brought back up to speed on the state of things, this whole discussion could have
been handled with a great deal more civility. There is no reason to lay into
Master Alden for his questions and concerns, when those questions and concerns
can be (and have been, in the process) so easily and so well addressed. Just
answer the questions. All of this stirring up of emotions is achieving
nothing but leaving a bad taste in people's mouths.
3) I don't believe that anyone has call to accuse Master Alden of being
dismissive towards anyone, considering how nobody has bothered to answer his
questions but instead lashed out at him for allegedly imagining that the questions
had not been addressed during the process of elevation. It is particularly
distressing because the answers to those questions are GOOD ANSWERS. Of course
they are good answers.........the Crown, the Officers of State, and the Board
would not have consented to the elevation without those very answers to those
very questions. Master Alden, in the meantime, has been responded to as if he
is a lunatic, as if he has no idea what he is talking about, or as if his
opinions and concerns are unimportant. This is where I am so completely lost: a
chance was missed to give the convincing, compelling answers to his questions
that are already out there, and instead it seems half the posters on this
list have lashed out at him for not jumping without question on the provincial
bandwagon. Mooneschadowe is a fantastic group of people with a fantastic
reputation all over the Known World, and little service is being done to that group
by ganging up on the one Ansteorran who had the courage to ask questions. It
raises the outrageous suggestion that maybe those questions had not been
satisfactorily answered in the process of elevation.
I know you mean well, Lord Ivo, and I take no offense to anything you have
said. It just seems that you may have missed some important information there.
I'm totally behind Mooneschadowe becoming a province, but I think also
there's no reason for going after Alden in the manner he has been gone after when
his concerns and questions are so easily answered.
