[Ansteorra] Happy New Year

The story I heard was that it dates back to the civil war. Something  
about a confederate unit from Texas eating cabbage and black-eyed  
peas on new years day and that the entire unit survived and made it  
home. (Of course the grandmother who told me the story is notorious  
for mixing up and changing stories to fit her purpose, but it made a  
good story. Not good enough to convince me to eat either peas or  
cabbage.)
