Brothers and Sisters All,

Here are some of my concerns with going back to no vambraces and adopting 
the Society standards without additions.  The only reason I can see for the 
half gauntlet ruling is that some kingdoms don't require vambraces.  The 
previous Society Earl Marshal ruled that the combination of vambrace and 
basket was sufficient protection. We should be pressing the point with the 
current Society Earl Marshal that because we wear vambraces we don't need 
half gauntlets if the combination protects the wrist. I don't feel that we 
should adopt a standard that is inferior in protecting the same area. 
Secondly I really don't want to go back to pulling blows to arms, it slows 
technique and makes them harder to hit. I also don't think any one on this 
list yet has thought of how you are going to feel if you break someone's 
arm; I personally do not want the experience. By the way, the reason that I 
think that fiberglass spears should be outlawed is; that they are the only 
weapon that I have absolutely no control over my own safety with other than 
choosing not to fight against it. This is one of the reasons I no longer go 
to wars.
