Greetings, Ansteorra!

It looks like the weather will be clear and cool, with sunny skies
all day and cool temperatures at night -- perfect for fighting,
camping and watching the spectacular competitions! Come and join us
for the last major tourney event of the year!

The Order of the Rose would be very pleased to welcome you to our
second Defenders of the Rose event, being held this coming weekend,
November 10-12, in the Shire of Emerald Keep. The weekend will be
filled with competitions in chivalric and rapier combat, performance
and static arts and sciences, archery and equestrian - the winners of
each competition will become members of the Company of Defenders of
the Rose! While the position holds no precedence and has no duties
(except those that the Defenders impose upon themselves), the Order
of the Rose honors those who have earned the right to such title and
holds them in especial regard.

A fabulous feast will be served to the first 125 to purchase it at
the gate, and the Rose Ball will follow, with dancing into the
evening. In addition to the tournaments of the weekend, Baroness
Ameline duBois will sit in vigil during the day on Saturday and will
be elevated to the Order of the Laurel in Their Majesties' Royal
court. Their Majesties will also be meeting with the Order of the
Pelican and the Order of the White Scarf to see their counsel.

The site is just east of Emerald Keep and has ample room for camping
and all the weekend's activities. Last year, it was a bit windy, so
you might want to think about bringing walls for your list pavilion
and expect to stake it down securely! More detailed information
about the event, the site and the event staff can be found on the
event web page, which can be linked to from the Kingdom calendar.

We look forward to seeing you at Defenders of the Rose II.
