HuH? The stretch is the implication that I was suggesting any such
thing. My comment was only that, given our history, I would’ve been
surprised if someone hadn’t made that connection.

Sigh. I didn’t say *this topic* is a conspiracy from on high, or that
the chivalry were involved (sneaky little buggers that they are ;). I
think what I tried to say (evidently not very well) is that in the past
there were rumors of conspiracy. Rumors of conspiracy and actual
conspiracy are not the same thing at all.

You think so? I doubt it. I don’t think all the Ansteorran rebels are
dead and gone by a long shot. It just takes sufficient cause to
motivate them to action. Thereagain, I’m sure YMMV.

Not an easy thing to put out of one’s mind when the proposal is that we
adopt corporate armor standards across the board to put us in line with
every other kingdom. Or did I miss the point?

You can go there if you want. I still think that falls under the realm
of speculation (what *might* happen *if* we do a certain thing.)

I agree that the difference between ¼ and ½ inch of padding is
negligible and hardly worth arguing. Taking Ansteorran rules and
eliminating them altogether? That equates to a sweeping change in my
book. It shouldn't surprise anyone that I dislike the idea of putting
“whatever corporate currently requires is fine with us” in our Kingdom
participant’s handbook. Others have done a good job of presenting
arguments on why this might be a bad idea. I don't feel the need to
cover the same ground.

Most of my perceptions of risk involve a lot of that darned flag waving
stuff. That said, I’ll save my personal soapbox for my online journal;
that way I’m not roughing a captive audience. :) Any attempt I might
make here would doubtless be taken personally by someone, somewhere,
and used to beat me later.

Respectfully,
