[Ansteorra] Rapier Combat Archers for Fall Melees

[Ansteorra Kingdom Rapier Marshal]

There are plans to include archery and missile weapons in the rapier
melees at Bordermarch. If you plan to fight or marshal in any of these
battles, please read the notes below.

   1.

      All rapier fighters in battles where archery will be used need to
      be aware that blots and arrows hit significantly harder than they
      may be use to being hit with a rapier. These hits should not cause
      injuries but they can sting and they are definitely startling to
      someone who is unprepared. Remember, it is your choice whether to
      participate in these battles or to wait for non-archery rounds.

   2.

      All marshals in melees where missiles are used are *required* to
      wear eye protection, gorgets and groin protection.

   3.

      As Kingdom Rapier Marshal, I have determined that gorgets are
      required for ALL participants in any battle that uses missile
      weapons (except RBGs). This applies even if the battle is being
      fought with epees.

   4.

      A combat archery marshal MUST be present to inspect all archery
      gear before battles. No CA marshal, no archery.

   5.

      RAPIER Combat Archery is a separate authorization. Being an
      authorized HEAVY Combat Archer and an authorized Rapier Fighter
      does NOT allow you to use combat archery in Rapier battles. This
      authorization does not come from the rapier marshalate but must be
      given by an Authorizing Combat Archery Marshal. Note that there
      are currently 23 fighters authorized for Rapier Combat Archery in
      Ansteorra.

   6.

      The only legal arrows are fiberglass and siloflex. Wooden arrows
      are NOT allowed. Golf tubes are NOT allowed.

   7.

      For fiberglass shafts, the ONLY legal head is the UHMW with 1 inch
      padding. Marklands are no longer allowed at all for anything in
      Ansteorra. Balders are NOT allowed for Rapier.

   8.

      For siloflex shafts, the legal heads are a tennis ball or an
      Omarad with 1 inch padding.

   9.

      Slings and hand thrown projectiles are legal but be aware that
      some projectiles that would be legal for Armored Combat may not be
      approved for Rapier Combat. For example, avoid rigid unpadded shafts.
