Count Gunthar,
I witnessed your kind act of (after just fighting in the final round of
Crown Tournament) carrying the table for Kingdom Waterbearer. I have a fond
memory of you at another Crown Tournament...it was the Crown Tournament that
you won. Later that evening after feast as my friend and I were carrying our
things to the parking lot, we had passed by a number of gentlemen when you
happened to see us. You ran over, removed the cooler from our possession and
carried it the rest of the way to the parking lot. You then insisted on
following us back to where the rest of our belongings were, gathering a few
Squires along the way. It only took one more trip because the Crown Prince
of Ansteorra WAS setting the example. I couldn't tell you where that Crown
Tournament occurred or who you fought in the finals that day but I have
never forgotten your act of kindness that day. I just wanted to let you know
you impressed two ladies that day. Thank you for showing us that Chivalry is
not dead.

as well.
The Society is a place where honor, courtesy and chivalry
are not to be the exception but the rule. In the modern
world if I were to go to a complete stranger and ask to
help her with the huge load of groceries she was carrying
she would probably call the cops on me. In our Society it
is expected to assist anyone in need. Unfortunately we
tend to forget this very basic and defining foundation.
Too often we are all busy in what we are doing and don't
notice what we SHOULD be doing. I've been just as
guilty as everyone else in this.
This weekend I was sitting under a pavillion with HG
Patrick-Michael, King Martin of Trimaris and others when
we looked up to see a lady hauling a table over to the
area where the fighters were doing pickups. Nobody
stopped to assist her. I got up (accidentally clanging
my armored kneecop into HG's unarmored knee. Sorry
Your Grace!) and carried it the last few feet for her.
She was bringing water to the fighters and got no
help.
I know we are tired, I know we are busy, I also know
that our ladies are very capable of taking care of themselves.
But we need to remember basic courtisies and that includes
helping those that need help. I don't care if it is man or
woman, child or duke. Remember to offer assistance.
Remember that courtesy extends to the site we have
for the weekend. Pick up your cigarett butts, clean up
your area and help the autocrats for after you are gone.
This is as much a reminder to myself as it is to everyone
else because I've been just as guilty. Our Society is
BETTER than the one where we go to work every week
and we have to keep it that way.
Thank you.
Gunthar
