And that's just the point. I will continue to wear vambraces and cops
under my shield. It's protection and, as was stated earlier, courteous
to wear them. I also think forearm protection is a very good thing.
The object of the argument is that we should establish minimum armor
as minimum for basic safety and allow the fighters to build up from there
to their comfort level. By constantly upping the requirements with no
real data to back it up, the SEM is creating a monster where none should
exist.

My suggestions for minimum armor: Helm, hardened/steel elbows & knees,
groin, throat, kidneys to floating ribs, hands, and forearms. Everything 
else
is gravy.

But let the fighters determine beyond that.
