Greetings,

This is one of those, "even if it didn't exist" situations for me. Whether the rule still exists or not I would still wear my vam braces. I agree that we over legislate WAY too much and if vam braces are somehting you want to attempt to fight without, I say that would be ok. Although I would not go without mine I would not be unhappy to see this rule fall into compliance with society.

My broken arm was in a fairly minimum vambrace, but certainly more than the society requires, and was broken by a sword shot. The other broken forearm I've personally seen was also a sword shot. My 2 pieces of evidence are of course anecdotal at best. I agree with Brother Lyonel about the extreme legislation we have on this rule, but I'd really hate to see people stop wearing vams in Ansteorra, or any of the harder hitting half of the kingdoms out there.Morgan> From: sirlyonel at hotmail.com> To: ansteorra at lists.ansteorra.org> Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2006 17:47:49 +0000> Subject: Re: [Ansteorra] Polls> > Salut cozyns,> > >"Should we *require* vambraces as minimum armour?"> >> >You can vote by going to http://marshal.ansteorra.org/armored/> > Three points worth noting:> > First, the vambrace is *not* an SCA marshal's requirement.
