They used unglazed pottery in the middle ages for a very long time, depending on what part of Europe you were in.  If it's been fired, it should be fine, but as for tasting like pottery???...I don't have any idea...really can't say as I know what pottery tastes like!LOL

Does the unglazed pottery leach out anything bad? Would the salt start to 
taste like pottery?
