I'm certain that must be it.

Actually, you will tend to see me with modern glasses on, or sometimes
without any at all. I had a pair of the Townsend 14th-15th frames fitted
with my prescription, and quickly discovered that they aren't really
designed to be worn all the time. They are intended to be held up for far
sighted people needing to see something up close. They were not designed
for people such as me who don't need help seeing up close, but tend to spend
their time watching what's going on at a distance. (and yes, in theory I
could wear contacts, but without getting into boring long irrelevancies, it
ain’t gonna happen).

But this is *my* issue, not something that can be resolved easily, or serve
as an excuse. Fortunately, the SCA allows me the option to just stick with
the modern glasses when I want to, and have those be the least accurate part
of my clothes (well, unless I'm taking photos for the archives, in which
case the camera is).

I haven't even bothered with late 16th century spectacles since even though
the prescription would be accurate for a change, the earpiece issue (or lack
thereof) would put me back in the same spot, and tying the stupid things to
my head just hasn’t grabbed me yet. We’ll see.
