Some of us -- maybe more than might otherwise have "voices" on-line --
don't wait for any award / reward.  

However, I can speak from personal experience that it *does* tend to
help re-focus and re-energize the recipient.

And, at least in Ansteorra, at considerably less than the GoA level.
