Greetings Ansteorra,
I'm pleased to announce the unveiling of the new 'Insignia' page on Ansteorra Scribes website. This new educational tool has been a work-in-progress for some months, and it's a great addition to the Ansteorran online pages.
  Check it out at: http://scribe.ansteorra.org/
  Select the menu item 'Insignia'.

Ansteorran artisans can use this page as a tool for identifying insignia badges and proper usages; along with examples of good insignia by various artisans of Ansteorra. Check the pages periodically, as we add more images.

Be aware that in some cases the 'badge' of the award is not the same as the 'insignia' of the award. For example, the badge of an Iris-of-Merit is shown in a circle, with a rainbow over a black star, However, the insignia is A RIBBON of rainbow colors worn on the left shoulder. Quite different. Typically, the badge is what's shown on the award scroll, the insignia is what is worn.

Special note - there are two two insignia that regularly have mistakes:
  * Sable Thistle - Ansteorra does NOT use the design of the Scottish Thistle, designed as a ball with dovetail on top, one set of leaves. The Ansteorran Thistle is designed uniquely as an oval with two sets of leaves.
  * Sable Crane - the bird is holding a tiny 10-point Black Star, most forget the black star.

If artisans of Ansteorra have questions on insignia designs, materials or techniques for making Ansteorran Insignia, please contact the Insignia deputy, HL John Lightfoot at: Insignia <insignia at ansteorra.org>.

Under the Education menu, you will find an article on Ansteorran Insignia, by Mistress Stella Silvana, feel free to read it at:

Many thanks for all the hardwork on developing this new insignia page, to Lady Zubeydah Jamilla al_Badawiyya, Northkeep, Vscribe for the Ansteorra Scribal Website. Vivat!

  Regards, Hillary Greenslade, Star Signet
