The Germans had a design that never got built, the keel was laid in the
same yard that did the Bismark, that would have had 20" guns that were
smooth bored.

Interesting that 60 years later simliar technolgy would be used in the
design by the Germans to build the 120MM cannon for the M1A1 tank in its
main battle gun.
