I spoke yesterday to Sieur Jean Paul about that, and there will be a
ranged weapon engagement amendment forthcoming. The 12' distance
mentioned in the new rules only pertains to whether an archer will be
considered part of a unit or line. We will still be able to fire from
farther back.

You are correct that there are no longer non-contact combat archers. The
following sentence can be removed from section VII.D.3.c:
"However, non-contact combat archers may protect themselves from attack
if necessary."

If you see any other references to non-contact combat archers, please
list them by section so they're easier to find and fix.

In Service,
Baron Donnchadh

That I cannot engage a foe unless I place myself within range of a glaive? Section 1.III.A would certainly seem to indicate that very thing. That would mean that as a Combat Archer I would not be able to engage anyone while in the towers at Bordermarch or if I was on the Curtain Wall by the Sally Port. I could not engage a unit assembling behind the front line in a melee as I did to House Rhoadd at the bridge fight this year at BAM or engage the defenders of the castle at Gothic when they stepped back from the walls. Any unit that cannot strike me is same from my arrows?
