There is a awesome Aquarium in Dallas, not the one at the Fair 
Grounds, which is so disappointing as to not merit mentioning, but in 
Dallas proper, just near the Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture 
Center, and the Crow Collection of Asian Art.

Dallas Zoo is also a fun visit, and less money than Fort Worth, 
though FW Zoo is more popular.  Tyler is an hour the other direction 
and also has some great museums, though I don't know about the 
Renaissance stuff.
