Greetings!
 
You can sign up for the Chirurgeon 101 and 102 classes being held at Bryn Gwlad's Candlemas on the chirurgeon website.

Both classes will be held in the outdoor pavillion. The new Chirurgeon 102 class will have armor extrication and will address safe ways to move a fighter off a field using what you got. So please dress accordiningly and bring a chair.

10:00:00 AM - 1:00:00 PM Carolingian Calligraphy   by Mistress Hillary
Greenslade (Ansteorra Star Signet)

Description: Learn a beginning simple calligraphy hand used in
Charlemagne's enpire between 800 and 1200; and that's useful for most
SCA scrolls.  Handouts will be available.
Limit: 12 students, 3 hours, Fees: $5 (for supply kit - please advise
in advance) Supplies Needed: Paper (Strathmore 400 series paper pad,
11x14); Ruler; pencil; Calligraphy pen holder; Nib:  1 of either:
Speedball C-2, Tape-3, Mitchell-2, Brause-3 or similar; Calligraphy
ink: Higgens (Eternal or Calligraphy), Pelican 4001 or similar.  A
supply kit will be available for $5. for those wanting, please advise

3:00:00 PM - 4:00:00 PM Lucrezia Borgia Dress and Chemise c. 1520   by
Mistress Rondinella le tyrolesa
Description: The focus is on a dress from a portrait by Bartolommeo
Veneto believed to be Lucrezia Borgia.  This dress is also featured in
a portrait of 'Joanna of Aragon' by Raphael.  We will cover cut and
construction of both the dress and the chemise.  The technique of
cartridge pleating is used in the construction of this garment but
will not be covered in class.

Amalia Zavattini
Description: A practical method for patterning and sewing bias-cut
hose made of wool or linen.

12:00:00 PM - 2:00:00 PM Copper Tooling   by Master Jovian Skleros
Description: This class is a hands-on introduction to tooled copper
art. With the basics from this class you can create artwork for
competitions, largess, or any decorative purposes.
Limit: 6 artists Unlimited observers, 2 hours, Fees: $5 - tools,
materials, and handout Supplies Needed: none

10:00:00 AM - 12:00:00 PM Diamond Point Engraving in the 16th Century
 by Her Wilhelm von Artz
Description: This class is to provide insight into the decoration of
Glasware in the 16th century.  The class will cover tools used,
different styles employed, and a hands on experience in engraving
glass.
Limit: 10 artists age 13 and over (because of sharp tools in use)
Unlimited observers, 2 hours, Fees: free Supplies Needed: none

2:00:00 PM - 4:00:00 PM Italian Renaissance Maiolica Ceramics   by Keara Ryan
Description: Includes history of this type of ceramic, a discussion of
pattern pouncing, glazing, decorating, and firing.

3:00:00 PM - 4:00:00 PM Medieval Fabliaux   by Honorable Lady Druinne
de Salesberie
Description: An introduction to the genre.  We will read a few and
explicate them.  Class does not require anything but chaires as it is
a lecture format

Rated M for mature for explicit language and adult situations., 1

12:00:00 PM - 1:00:00 PM Period Food Coloring   by Lady Aetheldreda of
Dun Breatan (Dreda)
Description: The class will be an introduction to how cooks in period
added color to their meals, using readily available supplies.
Handouts listing coloring agents and several examples of period use of
food coloring will be given.  Hands on class.  Besides making several
of the coloring agents, several foods will colored.
Limit: 6 students, 1 hour, Fees: free Supplies Needed: An apron would be helpful

documentation of being a chirurgeon / first aid responder at SCA
events.  Offers non contact authorization.

2:00:00 PM - 4:00:00 PM Chirurgeon 102   by Lord Arkell Vom Cophus
Description: First time to be taught in Ansteorra. This is the next
level of chirurgeon skills training for the new and "seasoned"
chirurgeon. Armor extrication, quick assessment, how to splint with
what you have... This course goes in depth into "To move or not to
move off an SCA battlefield." and When to call EMS?

Description: Basic class on voice heraldry with a focus on heralding a
list.  Will include basic projection, care and maintenance of the
voice, forms and protocols of list heraldry.  This class is aimed at
beginners, but is open to all.  There will be practical exercises.

Description: Preparing and storing herbs

2:00:00 PM - 2:45:00 PM Split Stitch Embroidery   by Coblaith Mhuimhneach
Description: We will discuss the ways in which split stitch was used
in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the stitch will be demonstrated,
then students will practice the stitch using wool embroidery thread on
a linen ground.  As this class is sponsored by the Ministry of
Children, sign-up will be limited to minors until about an hour before
the class begins.  After that, however, any remaining spaces are
available to students of any age.  There are no prerequisite classes.
Participants will be using needles; parents concerned that their
children cannot yet do so safely should attend with them, to supervise
and assist.  For minors, this class will count toward the Embroidery
Course of Study.  Those who complete it successfully will receive a
token indicating they have done so.
Limit: 15 students, About 10 minutes of instruction, then 30-40
minutes for practice. , Fees: free Supplies Needed: none

3:00:00 PM - 3:45:00 AM Heraldic Display: Animals and Postures.  Level

Description: Intermediate classabout animals and postures of heraldic
display.  Upon successful completion each participant will be provided

skills  Level 1 activity
Description: Introductory class to the voice heraldry course of study.
 This class will include information about how to project adequately
as well as other basic skills of voice heraldry.  Upon successful
completion each participant will be provided a token of their
accomplishment from the Barony.

Ætheldreda of Dun Breatan
Description: Beginners will learn the basic steps of English Country
dancing. The students will dance through Rufty- Tufty, Hearts ease,
and Black Nag if time permits.This is a wonderful place to start your
morning at Candlemas.

12:00:00 PM - 12:45:00 PM 15th Century Italian dance- Novice   by Lady
Isabella of Bryn Gwlad
Description: Beginners will learn basic steps for Italian dances.
These steps will be used as a foundation for many dances. One does not
need to know Italian to participate in the class. We will also dance
through several dances including Amoroso and Petit Riense.

3:00:00 PM - 3:45:00 AM Alman Right: Almans for Beginners   by Master

Description: Almans are easy: good for beginners. Almans are slow:
good for the tired. They're also graceful. If you like, you can easily
