[Ansteorra] Florence anyone? (A tribute to Janet Arnold)

I've been to Florence a couple of times (granted about 8 years ago) but I
would love to go again. The Pitti Palace costume exhibit was closed the
summer I was there and they were in the final stages of completing a museum
dedicated to how the upper middle class lived during the renaissance. It
looked really cool from the teaser display...they basically renovated an
original house with furnishings and tableaux of daily life. At least, that
is what it looked like they were doing. 

One of the things we can look into is a group housing situation. I know of
at least one organization that rents apartments for two week intervals and
the rates go way down as the number of people increases. We are talking two
weeks in a Florence house/apartment, airfare, and a local guide (not tour
guide but someone to answer questions, arrange things if you like) for
between $1800 and $2500 per person (depending on housing and number of
people). The main one is called "Untours". I'll check it out, especially
because that is the off season and if you are going to Italy, you really
want to see the rest of the country.

Yep .... so a budget line item now!! :D

If enough folks want to go we may be able to get a group rate on flights, 
etc.

Everyone please go fill out the survey so that they can solidify the plans 
for the conference to really happen. Once they do that then we can plan a 
group outing to Florence. :)
