I know I'm biased but I thought the vigil/peerage ceremony for Sir Giotto was inspiring.

P.s. Oh yes, almost overlayed, point was I really like vigils and think they
are a wonderful opportunity to experience The Dream.

My favorite vigil in the recent past was Mistress Serena's. She prayed in a chapel. It was beautiful. She was beautiful. She made me remember the duties of a Peer.
I really don't get anything out of the reception things we do now. They don't "bring me the magic".
What vigil has touched you?? Do it make you feel like a period person.
I had a vigil before my last coronation. I stayed up with my Ladies and waiting and prayed for wisdom. It was a moving experience for me.
The purpose of creating a medieval kingdom is so we can feel what they felt and I certainly felt the problems of kingship in all of my reigns. I hoped I gained wisdom and a deeper persona and a greater understanding of the periods we study.
