Your Grace,

Lasguaard and I have looked into the Prius a great deal and would buy one in a heartbeat if we had the money for a downpayment. It is amazingly roomy for a small car. We have looked at them for two years at the texas state fair. Unfortunately, Honda has never had one on display. As someone else said, Toyota's technology is different and Honda has acknowledged that it is better. We spoke to a woman in Fredericksburg at a gas station one day who was filling hers up. She routinely gets 70 mpg. She drives between Fredericksburg, San Antonio, and Austin. I have always had incredible good luck with Toyotas and have had three of them which were the best cars I ever owned. I highly recommend the manufacturer and trust their products completely. One of their cars that I owned was a Tercel and it was the first year that it was imported to the U.S. I owned it long enough to put almost 100,000 miles on it and never had a problem with it. I saw it running around my small town in Oregon six years later. I know that a young woman had bought it from the dealer and it probably had at least another 100,000 miles on it and probably was driven harder than I had done. That car would get 50 mpg on the highway fully loaded and with the a/c on. My first husband got that when we made a trip from l.a. to central utah and back for a family reunion the fall after we bought it.

Good luck in your search. If you get the prius, you can bet that I will drool over it. :)
