I had the good fortune and the difficult challenge to be one of the
judges for this competition. I have judged for the last three
competitions and was there to witness the first one as well. The
dancers, their skills and their scholarship were good in the first
competition and have improved each year. As you can imagine, this year's
competition was truly impressive.

The 7 women that performed this year were again exceptional in their
performances. These women are beautiful performers and know their art
and it's history. It was a humbling experience for myself as a dancer.
Each of these women gave a winning performance.

However, Kajira was truly the star of the evening. And Dominique
performed excellently. The other dances were a joy to watch. The bar
gets higher every year and that is due entirely to the quality of
performances produced by women like these.

I was quite pleased to be able to discuss the performances with the
dancers after the competition. We had not done that before and I think
the dancers appreciated it. I enjoyed it very much!

If you want to discuss how to or what to document, please speak to these
women but also seek me out as well. I would be happy to discuss my
opinions on documenting dances. I prefer to do so in person.
