Greetings,
Pray forgive the off-topic nature, but some interested in the jewelry arts maybe interested.
These upcoming lecture opportunities maybe more oriented toward contemporary or modern jewelry, but there will be some elements on historic jewelry as ornament.

An upcoming exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH) (www.mfah.org)
  will be hosting:
Ornament as Art: Avant-Garde Jewelry from the Helen Williams Drutt Collection,
  on Sept. 30, 2007 - January 31, 2008
  http://www.mfah.org/main.asp?target=exhibition&par1=1&par2=2&par3=371

In conjunction with the exhibit, there are a few educational opportunities:
The 32nd Annual Ruth K. Shartle Symposium: On Contemporary Jewelry
Keynote Address: A Conversation between Helen W. Drutt English, Collector and Educator; and Peter C. Marzio, Director, MFAH
Friday, September 28, 6:00 p.m.

Symposisum
Saturday, September 29, 1:00—6:00 p.m.

Presenters: Cindi Strauss, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Decorative Arts and Design, the MFAH, and organizing curator of the exhibition Ornament As Art: Avant-Garde Jewelry in the Helen Williams Drutt Collection; Glenn Adamson, Victoria & Albert Museum, London; Grace Cochrane, Independent Curator and Writer, Sydney; and Sharon Church, The University of the Arts, Philadelphia

  According to the MFAH calendar:
  http://www.mfah.org/main.asp?target=calendar&par1=5&par4=0&par5=0&par6=0
Both of these lecture dates are 'free' with the purchase of a general museum admission.

In conjunction with the Symposium, Rice Univ. will be hosting a Continuing Education, 6-week series of lectures on Thursday evenings at the MFAH museum:
  http://gscs.rice.edu/NccCourseView.asp?Mode=View&clCourseID=557&SnID=$LC:SNID$
(You can actually earn a bit of class credit for this one).
There is a fee for this class, but the lectures look great.

I'm planning to attend the Sept. 28/29th lecture series, as well as the
Rice U. Thursday night series, so if you are interested, you won't be solo.
  Let me know if interested.

  Cheers, Hillary
